FAQ: Port 25 Restriction for NovaCloud
Why is Port 25 restricted on NovaCloud servers?
Port 25 (commonly used for sending outbound emails via SMTP) is restricted by default on all NovaCloud instances to prevent spam abuse, protect network security, and keep IP addresses off global blacklists.
Is Port 25 enabled by default on NovaCloud plans?
No. Port 25 is blocked by default across both hourly-based and subscription-based NovaCloud servers.
How can I request Port 25 to be unblocked?
To enable Port 25 on your instance, further identity and use-case verification is required:
-
Contact Support or Sales: Reach out to your designated Account Manager or contact support@ipserverone.com / sales@ipserverone.com to escalate your request.
-
Submit Justification: Provide details explaining your business requirement for outbound SMTP/Port 25 access.
-
Approval: Once your request is reviewed and approved by the team, Port 25 will be enabled for your server.
Are there extra charges for opening Port 25?
No. There are no additional fees for unblocking Port 25 once your account and use-case verification request has been approved.
Can Port 25 restrictions affect my email services?
Yes. If Port 25 is blocked on your server, standard outbound SMTP connections on port 25 will fail. To ensure uninterrupted email delivery, you must complete the verification process or utilize alternative email submission methods.
How can I send emails while Port 25 is restricted?
If you prefer not to open Port 25 or are awaiting approval, you can configure your applications to send email via alternative, secure SMTP ports (such as Port 587 or Port 465) using an authenticated third-party SMTP relay provider.
